Sceletium Tortuosum Oil – Kanna
Composition: Pure and organic Sceletium-based oil mixed with MCT coconut oil. Each 10ml bottle contains approximately 200 drops.
Origin : Sceletium tortuosum, also known as Kanna or Kougoed, is a succulent plant native to South Africa, traditionally used by the Khoikhoi for hundreds of years.
Preparation: Our oil is obtained using artisanal techniques, preserving the authenticity and richness of the plant.
Alkaloid Profile*: Sceletium extract is composed of approximately 3% total alkaloids, including approximately 80% Mesembrine*.
Traditional use: Traditionally taken in small amounts (1 to 5 drops) sublingually

*Mesembrine is one of the main alkaloids identified in sceletium tortuosum (also known as kanna, channa or kougoed). Alkaloids, in general, are a group of chemical compounds naturally occurring in a number of plants (and some animals), which can have effects on humans and other animals.
Effects of Mesembrine: Mesembrine is primarily studied for its role in the psychopharmacological effects of sceletium. According to some studies:
- Selecting Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) : Mesembrine acts as an SSRI, meaning it can increase serotonin levels in the brain. SSRIs are commonly used in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders.
- Mood Effects : Through its action as an SSRI, mesembrine could potentially improve mood, reduce anxiety, and have antidepressant properties.
- Relaxation effects : Some users report a feeling of relaxation and well-being after consuming sceletium.
